How to Check SSPMIS Bihar Pension Status

In Bihar, social-security pensions are run through SSPMIS, the Samajik Suraksha Pension Management Information System, at sspmis.bihar.gov.in. It covers the state old-age pension (including the Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana), the widow pension and the disability pension, and it is where you apply, check your beneficiary record and see whether a payment has reached your bank account by direct benefit transfer. This page shows you how to check your SSPMIS pension status using your Beneficiary ID or Aadhaar, how to read a payment that has not come, and the exact way to raise a grievance or appeal if your pension is held up or your application is rejected. 01What SSPMIS covers

SSPMIS is Bihar's single system for social-security pensions. The main schemes on it are:

  • Old-age pension, including the Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana (MVPY) for older residents, alongside the central IGNOAPS share.
  • Widow pension (Laxmibai Samajik Suraksha Pension and the central widow-pension share).
  • Disability pension for persons with disability.

Each sanctioned beneficiary gets a Beneficiary ID, and the pension is paid into the linked bank account by direct benefit transfer. The Beneficiary ID and your registered Aadhaar are the keys to checking status.

02How to check beneficiary status

Use the beneficiary-status page to see whether you are sanctioned and active.

  • Step 1. Go to sspmis.bihar.gov.in and open the beneficiary or "Search Pensioner / Beneficiary Status" option.
  • Step 2. Enter your Beneficiary ID (or Aadhaar, where allowed) and submit.
  • Step 3. The page shows your scheme, sanction status, block, and whether the record is active or on hold.

If the record shows "verification pending" or is on hold, that is usually why the money has stopped. Fix the verification before you treat it as a payment failure.

03How to check payment status

Sanctioned is not the same as paid, so check the payment track separately.

  • Use the payment-status option on SSPMIS with your Beneficiary ID to see the cycle-by-cycle transfer history.
  • Look for a failed or returned transaction, which usually points to a bank-account or Aadhaar-seeding problem.
  • Cross-check your bank passbook for the DBT credit.

Most Bihar pension complaints are transfer failures, not sanction problems, so the payment track and the passbook together usually tell you what went wrong.

04Why a payment does not come

ProblemUsual reasonFirst step
Payment failed or returnedWrong account, closed or dormant account, or Aadhaar not seededFix account and seeding at the bank, then update SSPMIS
Record on holdVerification or re-verification pendingComplete verification at the block office
Never started after sanctionBank-detail error in the recordRaise a grievance with the Beneficiary ID
Application rejectedAge, residence, income or document criteria not metGet the reason in writing, then appeal

Fixing the cause, often Aadhaar seeding or a dormant account, is faster than a formal complaint. Keep the formal route for when the block office does not act.

05How to raise a grievance

  • Block office first. Apply in writing at the block-level Social Security Cell or the RTPS / service counter with your Beneficiary ID and bank passbook copy. Ask for a dated receipt.
  • SSPMIS / state grievance. Use the grievance or helpline option on SSPMIS or the Bihar service portal (serviceonline.bihar.gov.in).
  • CPGRAMS. Lodge a grievance at pgportal.gov.in for a central tracking number, especially where the central pension share is involved.

Keep the grievance number and every reply. If it is closed without a real fix, escalate to the District Social Security Cell.

06How to appeal a rejection

  • Ask for the rejection in writing with the reason and the rule relied on.
  • File an appeal or review with the designated authority (the SDO or District Magistrate / District Social Security Officer as notified) within the time allowed.
  • If a clear legal right is denied and the department still does not act, a resident can approach the Patna High Court by writ petition under Article 226. This is a court step, so take legal help.
Most SSPMIS problems are fixed at the block office or through the state grievance system. The court route exists for when a clear right is denied and the department still does not act.

07When it becomes a legal matter: where Claw fits

Claw is an all-in-one legaltech platform for Indian advocates, law firms, and corporate legal teams, combining AI-based case search, an AI legal assistant (Legal GPT), case management, and compliance automation across all Indian courts and tribunals.

Most SSPMIS problems end at the block office or through the grievance system. A few do not, and when a wrongful rejection or a stopped pension turns into a writ petition before the Patna High Court, or into any case before a court or tribunal, there is a real forum hearing it with a case number and dates. At that point you can create a FREE Claw account and track the matter by case number or by party name, so you and your advocate can follow the next date and the order sheet without chasing the registry.

Claw spans 9,102 courts, benches and forums, searches 30 crore+ judgments (Supreme Court from 1950, High Courts from 1990) and returns results in under 5 seconds, and it does not train on your documents. Tracking tells you what is on the cause list and the order sheet on the forums and date searched; it is a way to stay on top of your case, not legal advice, so use it alongside your advocate.

09Frequently asked questions

How do I check my SSPMIS Bihar pension status?

Go to sspmis.bihar.gov.in, open the beneficiary-status option, and enter your Beneficiary ID (or Aadhaar where allowed) to see your scheme and sanction status. Use the payment-status option for the cycle-by-cycle transfer history, and cross-check your bank passbook.

My SSPMIS pension is sanctioned but no money came. Why?

The most common reason is a failed or returned transfer from a wrong, closed or dormant account, or Aadhaar not seeded with the account. Check the payment status for a failed transaction, fix the account and seeding at the bank, and update SSPMIS.

What does "verification pending" mean on SSPMIS?

It means your record is on hold until a block-level verification or re-verification is completed, and the pension usually pauses until then. Complete the verification at the block office, after which the payment should resume.

How do I raise a grievance for a Bihar pension?

Start at the block-level Social Security Cell or RTPS counter in writing with your Beneficiary ID and passbook copy, then use the grievance option on SSPMIS or the Bihar service portal, and CPGRAMS at pgportal.gov.in for a central tracking number.

Can I challenge a rejected SSPMIS application?

Yes. Ask for the rejection and reason in writing, then appeal to the designated authority within the allowed time. If a clear legal right is denied and the department still does not act, a writ petition can be filed in the Patna High Court.

Can I track a pension court case online?

Yes. If a rejection or stopped pension becomes a writ petition or any case before a court or tribunal, you can follow it by case number or party name. A free Claw account lets you track the next date and order sheet across courts and tribunals in one place.
