Tripura High Court Case Status: How to Check Online by Case Number or Party Name (2026)
A step-by-step guide to checking Tripura High Court case status online by case number, CNR, party name, advocate name, FIR number or filing number, with what each status word means.
How-To Guide · Tripura High Court
You have a matter before the Tripura High Court and you need to know what happened at the last hearing, or whether it is listed tomorrow. You may be a lawyer in Agartala, a litigant in another state, or a lender with a borrower in Tripura. In each case the same problem appears: you pick the wrong portal option, type a party name the way the registry did not, or search with a case type that does not match. This guide shows how to check Tripura High Court case status online, which search method to use, and what each status word means. Last verified: October 2026.
- Where to check: thc.nic.in or hcservices.ecourts.gov.in, free to use.
- Seat: the court sits at Agartala and serves the whole state of Tripura.
- Fastest search: the 16-character CNR number.
- Older matters: cases from before 2013 may be in Gauhati High Court records.
- To avoid repeat searching: create a free Claw account and track by party name or number with alerts.
01Quick answer
To check Tripura High Court case status, open the official High Court website or the eCourts High Court Services portal, select the Tripura High Court, then search by case number, CNR, party name, advocate name, FIR number or filing number. To follow a matter without repeating the search, you can track it in Claw by party name and get hearing and order alerts.
The portals are free to use. They show the status as the registry has entered it, so a very recent order can take a little time to appear. People also search for this court as the Agartala High Court. It is the same court.
02The Tripura High Court and its jurisdiction
The Tripura High Court was established on 23 March 2013, when the High Courts of Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya were created out of the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) framework. Before that, Tripura came under the Gauhati High Court, which had a permanent bench at Agartala from 1992.
| Point | Detail |
|---|---|
| Seat of the court | Agartala, the capital of Tripura |
| Territorial jurisdiction | The whole state of Tripura |
| Outlying benches | None found. The court sits at its principal seat in Agartala |
| How the court sits | One Division Bench and one single judge bench, or three single judge benches, as roster needs require |
| Established | 23 March 2013 |
This makes status search simpler than at courts with several benches. There is no bench to choose between. The common mistake is the opposite one: looking for a Tripura matter under the Gauhati High Court because it was filed before 2013. Older matters from the Agartala permanent bench period may sit in the Gauhati High Court records, so check there if a pre-2013 case does not appear. See our guide to Gauhati High Court case status for that.
For research on its judgments rather than live status, see our page on case search in the Tripura High Court.
03Step by step on the official portal
You can use either the High Court’s own website or the eCourts High Court Services portal. Both show case status for this court. The steps are almost the same.
- Open the portal. Go to thc.nic.in or hcservices.ecourts.gov.in and open Case Status.
- Select the High Court. On eCourts HC Services, choose Tripura High Court from the list. If the portal asks for a bench, choose the Agartala seat.
- Pick the search tab. Case Number, CNR Number, Party Name, Advocate Name, FIR Number or Filing Number.
- Fill in the fields. For case number, pick the case type from the list, then enter the number and year.
- Enter the captcha and press Go.
- Open the record. Click View to see parties, advocates, filing and registration dates, next hearing date, stage and the list of orders.
Tip: keep the CNR number
The CNR is a 16-character code that identifies one case. Once you have it, it is the fastest and most exact search. Note it from the first order or the case record and keep it with your file.
04Search methods compared
Use the method that matches what you already know. A wrong or partial detail is the most common reason a search fails.
| Method | What you enter | Best when | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Case number | Case type, number and year | You have the case number from a notice or order | Wrong case type, for example a writ petition against a criminal petition |
| CNR number | 16-character CNR | You have it from an earlier record | One wrong character gives no result |
| Party name | Name, year, pending or disposed | You only know who is involved | Spelling variants, initials, and long lists of similar names |
| Advocate name | Advocate name and year | You want every matter of one counsel | Name may be recorded in more than one form |
| FIR number | Police station, FIR number and year | Criminal matters tied to an FIR | Only works if the FIR details were entered at filing |
| Filing number | Filing number and year | The case is filed but not yet registered | The number changes once a regular case number is given |
If a party search returns too many rows, add the year. If it returns none, try fewer words, such as only the surname or the first word of a company name. Names in Tripura can be spelt in more than one way in English, so try the common variants.
05What the status words mean
The status field uses short court terms. Here is what the common ones mean.
- Pending: the case is still alive. No final order has closed it.
- Disposed: the case has been decided or closed. An appeal or review may still follow elsewhere.
- Listed: the case has been put on a cause list for a given date and court.
- For orders: the matter is on the list for the court to pass an order, often after arguments have been heard.
- Reserved: arguments are over and the judgment has been kept for later. No date may be fixed yet.
- Adjourned: the hearing did not go on and a new date was given.
Listed means the court has the case on its list, not that it will certainly be heard. To see which courtroom and item number you are in, read the daily list. Our guides to what a cause list is and how to read a cause list explain how.
06Common problems with Tripura High Court status search
No record found
Check the case type and year first. A new filing may not be registered yet, so try the filing number. For a matter older than 2013, check the Gauhati High Court as well.
The order is not uploaded
Status can update before the order text is available. Check again later, or ask the court registry for a certified copy if you need it for filing.
The portal is slow or the captcha fails
Court portals are busy on weekday mornings. Refresh the captcha and try again outside peak hours.
You have many matters
Repeating the search for each case does not scale. Boutiques that run many matters at once will find a tracking workflow useful. See case management for litigation boutiques.
